New Community Home

Join ACE3 Slack here!

In light of recent developments in IDI-Systems and relatively low public activity on the ACRE2 Slack workspace, we have decided to fully internalize it. One of the goals is to consolidate the ACRE2 community together with ACE3, which shares a long history with us and already hosts majority of the ACRE2 users in a great knowledge-sharing environment.

With this in mind, we expect most will not be impacted by this move. Old Slack will be locked and all external accounts deactivated in 2 weeks of this posting. Further collaboration talk in form of private channels will continue on the ACE3 Slack, currently active ones will transition as well.

Thanks everyone for understanding and we hope to see you over in
#acre2
on ACE3 Slack. Special thanks to the rest of the ACE3 Team for providing a great place to share knowledge and develop new and interesting systems for Arma!

State of ACRE2

Following in the footsteps of the original ACRE mod for Arma 1, ACRE2 is the first IDI-Systems project made available completely open-source on GitHub.

With seven years of support and five years of open-source availability, ACRE2 has grown beyond the group of developers into the wider community, inviting numerous contributions and opening doors to additional modifications. We are thankful for all the support and additions you have all brought to the project.

While we have not even scratched the surface of our internal wishlist, as IDI-Systems works on future ACRE iterations, active development on an older product has to come to a slowdown naturally. Support in the form of maintenance, accepting community contributions, and providing further releases will continue.

ACRE2 is still our primary product used by hundreds of thousands of players, and we will keep an eye on it as we look towards the future. We invite any interested individual to start or continue contributing; we are always happy to see new talent and ideas!

Read more about IDI-Systems on our new website.

New Documentation

You are viewing ACRE2’s new documentation website. All resources from old pages are consolidated here. You can read into user and radio guides, learn how to expand your work with ACRE2’s APIs and frameworks and even help in expanding this documentation or join the development of now open-source ACRE2.

Future

In the future, we will be adding automatically generated such as Class Names and Public Functions List, and also further expanding the documentation on existing features, functionalities and frameworks.

ACRE2 Slack will also become available to the public very soon! A self-invite will be available from the menu on top, under “Contact”.

Contributing

Anyone can contribute to the ACRE2 documentation. It is entirely open-source and available here. Every page also contains an “Edit Me” button that will take you directly to the source file of the page you are on.

Many communities out there use ACRE2’s features and functionalities in their own way, contribute to the official documentation to consolidate and share information with the rest of the community!
